New York: A holiday to remember
“New York, New York” resounds in heads
As rooms are assigned with comfy beds
A new adventure is to arise
With lots of fun, full of surprise
Guided by Mr Robertson to streets unknown
The Empire State is the next to be shown
Collapsing on heaps we struggle to bed
“Lights out girls” need not be said
First ride of the subway with an imminent shriek
Next to Ellis Island, then to ground zero we peek
Dinner on the run then the evening show
Mary Poppins here we come with are faces aglow
Off to the Guggenheim with its spiralling stairs
Searching for an opinion with looks of despair
Then in grand central station shopping is done
And a long walk back, oh what fun!
Saturday comes and it’s off to Carnegie hall
We learnt a few facts and had a ball
5th avenue shopping without a stumble
And lots of time spent in apple crumble.
Sunday was not for the faint hearted
With our trip to the famous MOMA we started
Then to radio city for a stage door tour
Where we met a Rockette and got pictures galore
Monday was the day, which ended our trip
With shopping and packing and cleaning to fit
To souvenir stores we did wander
Then to Macys we hit with thunder
Then to JFK some do not hasten to go
The sadness on peoples faces show
But go we did some with saddened faces
And memories and pictures of our fabulous places
Saying goodbye but only for a while
We thank the teachers (and fireman) with a smile
Mrs Higgins, Mrs Dowse and Mr Robertson we thank you
And not forgetting Miss Wilson and Tony too.
Yours
Jahz
